In the segment of #SundaySnapshots, I showcase some of my favorite photos during my travels! This time I am taking you back to the U.S.A with the adorable city of Charleston, South Carolina. This past June, I was able to attend the bachelorette party of my dear friend from high school, Eva! I was so excited to hear that she wanted to do a girls trip away, to either Punta Gorda, Florida or Charleston, S.C. As I have family in Punta Gorda area, I would have been happy either way, but I have been eyeing Charleston for quite some time.
Charleston is an adorable town full of history located on the water dating back to 1670. It has survived the Revolutionary War and Civil Wars and much more, so if you are a history buff you will love this city! They have walking tours, war tours, ghost tours, food tours – you name it! Plus you are in the heart of southern charm, and I don’t just mean that reality TV show on Bravo, so people are very kind and welcoming. Tourism is on the rise and apparently it will soon to beat Las Vegas and Nashville as the new bachelorette party haven!
More and more cities are trying to get people active and stop driving, so they offer bike rental programs with stations to pick up bikes throughout the city or offer bike tours I remember living in Lyon and Paris thinking bike rentals were the freaking, coolest thing ever and couldn’t figure out why America didn’t do this. I only had to wait 5 more years, thanks America. They happened to come along with the time of the chip in credit/debit cards too (again, thanks America!).
Charleston is no different, but out of all the places I have seen, Charleston by far has the cutest bikes. While waiting for a ghost tour, I came across these adorable bikes for a tour I still cannot find 🙁 however these aren’t the only cute blue bikes in Charleston! They have a blue bike share program throughout the city. And the name? Holy Spokes! I mean, I love a good play on words, Charleston is #winning all around! While Chicago has Divvy bikes in another blue color, there is something about the Holy Spokes blue bikes that work so charmingly with the vibe of Charleston.
While I cannot find the name of who owns these blue bikes, I do implore you to get out of your comfort zone and rent a bike for the day or do a bike tour in a city. They are some of my favorite things to do in a city!
