Keeping in theme with Europe for Sunday Snapshots, I am taking you back to France! My first ever trip abroad was with my high school French class to France. It was a 10-day excursion all through France – Paris, Loire Valley, Nice, and couple hours in Eze and Monaco. I owe a lot to the trip, because this how I decided I wanted to teach English as a foreign language because I fell in with France. It was a life-changing trip! We got to see many amazing places in France. One of my favorite parts of the trip was visiting the Loire Valley.
The Loire Valley is home to many impressive chateaux (castles). I highly recommend taking time to visit the Loire Valley when you are visiting France! It’s such a beautiful area of France and the castles are some of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Some people can get bored of seeing chateaus, but I cannot! One of my favorites ins Chateau de Chambord.
Chateau de Chambord is more than likely the first castle to pop up when you google the Loire Valley. It is one of the most beautiful and recognizable French Renaissance chateaus in the Loire Valley, as well as the largest. However, it was never finished, a fact not many know when looking at it. Despite being unfinished, it is still one of the most visited chateaus! It has a stunning double staircase inside, an upper area near the roof that you can walk around outside, and an impressive 13,000-acre forest and grounds surrounding it. I honestly could look and wander around it all day, and there is not much inside given the fact it was never finished! Wherever you go, you can get stunning views of the castle and the grounds. I would go back in a heartbeat. Le sigh!
