Ireland: Erin Go Broad

Well, it has been quite some time since I have posted. Big surprise I fell off the wagon….again. Needless to say, this has been one of the busiest summers of my life. Since moving  back to the states and to Chicago, I have been very fortunate to get to experience family events, birthdays, parties, concerts, weddings, and more. As a result, I have spent way less time on my computer (yay?) and therefore less time on my blog. Yes, I know excuses, excuses – others who travel the world and can keep up with their blogs, but alas I am definitely not one of the people, no matter what I say every New Years.

As mentioned, I have been fortunate to do a lot recently and this summer happened to be the summer of weddings. What every girl in their upper twenties loves to receive, wedding invites! And this summer, I had SEVEN. But, two of my best friends in the world got married this summer, as well as amazing friends whom I have known my whole life and others I have met while I was traveling. With these weddings came an invite to one of my good friend and former colleague Amelia’s wedding. We worked together in Hong Kong and helped me become the teacher I am today. We have had ups and downs, lots of laughs and tears, and when she said she was getting married in Ireland, there was NO doubt I was going to be there. I had never been before, I have a bit if Irish in me, and my name is ErinSO Irish, so I knew I had to jump at the chance. Plus, I hadn’t seen my friend Amelia and now husband Jimmy, as well as my friends Jen and Dan in a year since leaving Hong Kong and I was just too excited!

So, long story short – here comes another segment (can you tell that I like these?) called #ErinGoBroad. Get it? Get it?! It is a play on Erin go Bragh, or loosely “Ireland Forever,” from Gaelic. I think it is clever at least! I guess it loses it a bit if you have to explain! Needless to say get ready for the sites of Dublin, Galway, Ring of Kerry and a few places in-between. Stay tuned!
