As you know, for some reason I absolutely love doors – there is just something about them that are so intriguing. I did a piece on the many doors of Marrakesh previously, so in case you didn’t think my door obsession is real, IT IS. On this segment of ‘The Road to South America’ why not you through some doors whilst I am at it, but this time in Cartagena, Colombia! Here are the many doors of Cartagena.
Cartagena, known as Cartagena de Indias, is a beautiful city located on the northern coast of Colombia – the Caribbean side. Being a port city during the time of colonization and pirates, there is a impressive wall and fortress that fortifies the city.
Inside the walls is a vibrant and thriving city full of color that I have never seen! Yellows, pinks, blues, oranges, – you name it and it will cover the walls of houses, stores, and other buildings throughout Cartagena – and on these walls? Obviously, beautiful doors!
If you ever get the chance to visit Cartagena (and you definitely should!) don’t just get sucked into the stunningly colorful buildings, but the just as intricate doors too! I hope you enjoyed the many doors of Cartagena.
